Printmaking

The process I went through to make this print had many steps.  I started by picking two different animals with texture, which were a jellyfish and a stingray.  I also chose four different landscapes that I could put those animals in.  I ended up chosing to do a jellyfish in the desert.  Then, I drew the jellyfish in the desert and planned how it would look on the linoleum.  When I got it to look the way I wanted, I transfered the picture onto the linoleum with tracing paper.  After I got it onto the linoleum, I cut out all of the black so that it would contrast against the white and create a stamp.  Then, I started the printing process.  I rolled ink onto my stamp and then layed it on the paper to create a print.  I did this five times. 

My thoughts on this project are that it took a long time and was stressful at some points, but overall I enjoyed it and had a good outcome, which was a success.  I had many challenges, like cutting the linoleum and putting it on the paper to make the print look neat. 

From this project, I have learned how to make prints.  I learned how to incorperate different textures and patterns.  It taught me to use my time wisely and work efficiently.

Frog Tongue

My experience making this picture in photoshop was fun.  Since I had experience doing this with the angry pancake first, this project was easier because I knew how to use photoshop and what to do. 

Angry Pancakes

I had a good experience with this excersize.  At first it was diffiicult using photoshop because I had never used it before.  Once I got used to it, it was easy to use and fun. 

Stencil Project

This stencil project had many steps in order to get the final outcome.  I started by taking a picture of my friend.  Then, using photoshop, I took out the photo's original value colors and replaced them with four new colors.  I printed out the picture with its new values and took a picture of it to project it onto the wall.  I traced each of the four values onto four different poster boards.  After that, I cut out each poster board as a stencil.  One at a time, I spray painted each stencil of value onto a peice of cardboard using the colors: black, blue, pink, and white.  When I was done spraying all of the stencils, my original picture with the four values was transfered onto the cardboard. This was a fun experience for me because I have never done anything like it.  I have never used spray paint before, so it was challenging at first.  It was difficult and time consuming to cut out all of the stencils with a exact-o-knife. Overall, I believe that my stencil was a success and looked some what like my original picture.

Contour Shoe Drawing

This is my final draft of the contour line shoe drawing.  My first try drawing this was not very successful.  I practice many times before I got this outcome.  I had to look at the real version of this shoe and draw what I saw without lifting up my pen.  We had practiced this many times in class by drawing our hands and other objects.  Each object I drew was better than the last.  I fianlly was able to produce this shoe.  Contour line drawing has taught me to pay attention to the details in the object that I am drawing.  With the contour line drawing skill, my drawing has improved because it taught me to take my time and really focus on every detail that goes into drawing.

Ipad Value Study

Using the Layers Pro app on the iPad and using oil pastels in class to create my value study had many similarities and differences.  Many of the differences had to do with the fact that the iPad was easier and not as messy to use.  I used a stylus for the iPad which made drawing a lot easier. The Layers Pro app allowed me to add layers to my drawing, which made any mistakes I made easy to fix. Using the oil pastels was very messy and took more time. The similarities between the iPad and oil pastels was that it was difficult to blend each colors together to make the shape look 3-dimensional. Through this experience, I learned that technology does make drawing value and blending easy, less messy, and fast. Technology is useful and important in art because it allows people to explore new ideas and try different ways to produce different types of art.

Cartoon Skeleton

This skeleton of Minnie Mouse uses all of the bones in the body. I used human bones for her arms and legs and ribs for her ribcage. I did a human skeleton for her hands and feet. The size of her head is modified to show the difference in her body's proportion and I left the bow on her head. To make her head look more like a skull, I drew teeth and left out her eyes and nose.  Her body is positioned the same way it is in the original picture.
